Looking for a Gun Range in Tallahassee? How Coached Range Time Works at Armor

Searching for a shooting range or a "gun range near me" in Tallahassee? Here's the straight answer first: Armor Firearms & Training is not a walk-in public range. There are no lane rentals and no drop-in hours. Every trip to our range is booked ahead and led by an instructor. If you want range time with a coach beside you, here's how it works.
Not a walk-in range: what that means
At a public shooting range, you pay for a lane and shoot on your own. We do it differently. You get range time at Armor in four ways, and all four are booked ahead:
- Learn to Shoot, our beginner group class
- Private lessons for you or your own group
- The concealed carry live-fire test
- The Armor Practice Club, our monthly coached practice
Why do it this way? Every shooter on our line has an instructor watching, and groups stay small, with classes capped at 10. Our NRA-certified instructors and law enforcement firearms trainers keep every session safety-first and welcoming, whether it's your first time or your hundredth.
Four ways to get range time at Armor
1. Learn to Shoot: $75 group class, 2 hours
Learn to Shoot is our beginner class, with up to 10 students.
- Dates: Sat Nov 7, 10 AM–12 PM · Sat Nov 28, 9–11 AM · Sat Dec 5, 10 AM–12 PM
- Arrive 15 minutes before class starts.
- You'll get a certificate of completion. Learn to Shoot is not a concealed carry class.

2. Private lessons: $95 or $145 per person
Want the range to yourself? A private lesson is one or two hours, for one person or a group of up to 10. Private means private. Once you book a slot, no one else can join. Lessons are all-inclusive: guns, ammo and eye and ear protection.
- 1-hour private lesson: $95 per person
- 2-hour private lesson: $145 per person, and it includes the concealed carry training certificate
Lessons run on Saturdays by appointment. Pick a slot on Calendly (1-hour or 2-hour), then pay online.
3. Concealed carry live-fire test: $75
Taking the Concealed Coalition online course? Our live-fire test satisfies the Florida concealed weapon license training requirement. Test dates are Nov 7, Dec 5 and Dec 19. Arrive at 8:45 AM with a photo ID, your signed waiver and proof of the online course. You get your certificate when you pass. To book, use the Concealed Carry button on our homepage. 4. Armor Practice Club: monthly coached practice
Already shooting and want to keep your skills sharp? The Armor Practice Club is a monthly 2-hour coached session: $49/mo with no contract, $135 for 3 months or $65 drop-in. Membership is open, but each session is capped at 10 shooters, so book your seat early. Sessions run with 5+ paid members. Ages 8+ are welcome, and youth need a parent-signed waiver. The first session is Sat Nov 28, 11:30 AM–1:30 PM, then Sat Dec 19, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM, then monthly, with dates posted.
What coached range time looks like
Every session starts with safety. Your instructor goes over the core rules before anyone handles a gun: treat every gun as if it's loaded, keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot, and know your target and what's beyond it.
From there, the instructor stays on the line with you. Expect hands-on help with grip, stance, sight alignment and trigger control, plus honest feedback on what to practice next. That coaching is the big difference from shooting alone at a lane. Small habits get caught early, before they turn into bad ones.
What to bring
- A photo ID.
- Your waiver, signed online before you arrive. Adults sign the adult waiver. Under 18, a parent or guardian signs the youth waiver.
- Your own gun and ammo (preferred) for Learn to Shoot, the Club and the live-fire test. For Learn to Shoot, bring 50 to 100 rounds, depending on experience. Need a loaner? A gun and ammo are $25, and eye and ear protection is $5.
- Private lessons include everything: gun, ammo and eye and ear protection.

Where is the range?
Searching for an outdoor gun range in Tallahassee or a shooting range near me? All classes, lessons, tests and Club sessions are held outdoors at our private range in NW Leon County, FL. Exact range address given after booking. Please don't head to our FFL office for range time. It handles firearm transfers and pickups only.

- Never shot before, or it's been years: Learn to Shoot ($75) or a 1-hour private lesson ($95).
- Want the concealed carry training certificate in a private setting: the 2-hour private lesson ($145).
- Finished the Concealed Coalition online course: the live-fire test ($75).

- Bringing family, friends, co-workers or your church group: a private lesson for up to 10 people.
